Armelle discovers a secret forest full of Neanderthals she’s never seen before. The society elects her as their queen; they see her as an intellect who knows everything, although she was just a mere human. The life they lead has made Armelle much happier, as she felt accompanied and out of all, important. Never in her life has she been treated like this. Until one day, she realizes: she missed her old world, family, and friends.
Desperate, Armelle seeks a path to return to the human world. But her name has been forgotten and nobody believes her trampled fantasy until she shows proof of the Forest. Proof of extinct life... living. That somehow disappeared. How does Armelle lead her life now that she doesn’t have a purpose?

By the time she was done eating lunch, lunchtime wasn’t up yet. She’d usually spend time with Fleur, but seeing that she’s not there, she went to explore and take pictures of her surroundings with her Polaroid camera. She saw plants and trees of different kinds, and she saw flowers too. As she kept walking and wondering where she’s going, she saw this stone, lying right under this tree. She never really liked stones, yet this one caught her eye.
She took the stone and inspected it carefully. And that’s when it happened. She felt a sudden breeze and a light change of temperature. She felt a bit lightheaded all of a sudden. She saw some colors too. The color of the stone, to be exact. Different shades of pink, it looked like a rose quartz. All very odd, she thought, as it wasn’t like this today. She turned and she didn’t see her school. She only saw grass. Grass everywhere.
Far in the distance, about a mile away, she saw broken buildings and some that weren’t. She didn’t know what to do except to go closer. That was a mistake. She never should have gone closer to the building.
Tentang Penulis
Hi! I’m Sharon and I’m currently in 7th grade. I’ve been studying at IWEC for about a year, and a while ago a book was published including me and my classmate’s short stories. I’ve always enjoyed writing stories, I think that thinking of different plots and what to write is the best part of it. Writing at IWEC helps me improve my writing skills. I think that my early stories were pretty broken and influent, but I’d say that my stories now are more fluent. Writing stories take a while, so every time I try to re-read my stories, the beginning of the story is always in a different mood than the latest paragraphs I wrote. Sometimes it surprises me to see how different in contrast these sentences are. I go by the username @cherrvic on Instagram. It’s my only public social media handle, so be sure to check it out!
